One of life's simplest yet most fulfilling little pleasures is that first cup of coffee consumed in the quiet of an early morning. The air is cool and crisp, the dew is like crystal globes in the garden, and the rich cultured layers of flavor of a good cup of Gevalia coffee wake me to a new day.
Yesterday I "bit the bullet" and bought a new portable air conditioner for the wee cottage in the woods. I'd had enough of the uncomfortable heat and humidity of the previous five days and knew I had to do something or I'd not survive the summer with my sanity intact. So after much research I settled upon a 10,000 BTU portable air conditioner. My research tells me that it is sufficient to keep the living areas cool during the heat of the day...and then I will move it to my bedroom at night and it should keep the bedroom cool as well as the back half of the house. We shall see.
Of course yesterday was a beautiful summer day with low humidity and a sprightly breeze. The temperature never got above 78 (F) and during the night the temperature dipped to a delicious 38 (F). I slept like a baby throughout the cool and quiet night.
By the weekend the heat and humidity are to return and the new portable air conditioner will be tested.
More and more...with each passing day...I become convinced of the basic lesson that when we take care of our soul...of our spirituality...then everything else will fall into place. This might not be a good analogy but remember the old adage: "You cannot love someone until you have learned to love yourself"? The same is true with our lives...all aspects of our lives. When we address our spirituality...when we nurture our souls...then we thrive and everything will fall into place whether it be the right career, prosperity, the right person, and on and on...
That is my thought for today. Now I must attend to the chores of this beautiful day including a class on learning how to write better. Hmmmm.
