Is it not amazing that flowers can thrive in this beautiful but sometime inhospitable environment? Where-ever there is a patch of soil that is protected from the wind wild flower beds such as this do flourish. BTW, that is over a 300 foot drop to the ocean...

Unfortunately that annual nastiness known as Daylight Savings Time has been inflicted upon the population. So instead of sitting here with morning sunlight streaming thru the windows, it is dark and sunless outside. Yes, it may now be light later in the evening...but in turn I (all of us) have lost one hour of precious morning sunlight. For solace, I look at this picture of the sun getting ready to set and pretend it is a sunny morning.
Back in "the day" when it used to rain here in Northern California...on a cold and windy and snowy morning we walked up Mt. Diablo...to its peak. This is one of the photos I took along the way.
This is a beautiful building both inside and out. I also have a fun/funny memory of once being there during the holiday season. One year a good friend and I discovered that the symphony and chorus were going to perform "The Messiah" at the cathedral just before Christmas. So we got our tickets. We got there early. We seated ourselves in kind of the middle/back.
One hour later we were in acute agony! We never considered how uncomfortable church pews would be for a three hour performance!!! If I am remembering correctly, we left before the "Hallelujah Chorus." :-) Today I am thinking of retiring. As I gaze out the window and see the morning sunlight gently kissing the flowers and shrubs, as I listen to the fountain on the patio burbling away, as I listen to birds not only singing but chirping as they feed...I feel this peace seeping into my being. Life, as we know it, is very short. At this point in life for me...it is even shorter.
So, what should I do? My soul tells me to retire. My finances say maybe. LOL Maybe I need to let go...just let go and have faith... Before the last few years of drought/global warming, this used to be a common sight during the summer. Now it is less so for last year we went the whole summer without fog. On this March morning with sun pouring thru the windows, lighting up the mountains and valleys beyond my windows, I cannot help but wonder when the drought will finally break?
This past weekend...on Saturday evening...I picked up these beautiful roses at Safeway...and they are the centerpiece on my dining room table. Took this photo using my iPhone 6.
